Issue #3 - Oct. 19, 2008

Hello from Cosplay Oneesan!

Welcome to the 3rd installment of On the Road to Yumemiru Musical Paradise!

Last week, we gave fans information about what to expect from the event, as well as news and previews of up and coming collaboration merchandise.

In this issue, I want to provide a glimpse into some of the more enjoyable behind-the-scenes work that an Oneesan member does on a day-to-day basis.

To better introduce myself, my name is Lauren and I've been responsible for this year's On the Road to Yumemiru... LiveJournal campaign. Last year, I was Oneesan's main Logistics Coordinator in conjunction with the LAX Hilton ensuring that the Fashion Brunch, Panel and Magical Boutique would operate smoothly for both guests of honor and fans alike.

This year, I am back for more and have been continuing work under Hotel Logistics, in addition to this year's VIP Ticketing.

But any member can tell you that the job of an Oneesan isn't all frills and fun. There's hours of planning, negotiating, contract-writing, venue-scouting, budgeting, interpreting, promoting -- and overall dedication required before the guests of honor even show up (which is a whole other story!)

Nevertheless, we as Oneesan do it all for you! We love what we do and hope you will enjoy our events as much as we love hosting them! Here's to a great 2008 event!

Let them eat (really good) cake!

Let Them Eat Cake One of the lesser known facts about the Oneesan events is that as our organization's Logistics Coordinator, I determine many of the tiny details of the event in addition to the larger ones regarding the venue -- how much space is between each table, the color of the napkins guests will be using to even what foods will be served. Basically, background elements that you as an average attendee will not notice nor should notice if executed smoothly.

So after Oneesan interpreter Koni received a call from Asuka requesting some 'lighter' fare for this year's Tea Party, I went out in search of the perfect something for our event.

Food Network Spoils There were a number of bakeries and patisseries that I had in mind, but recalling a suggestion from a friend, I found myself visiting Food Network famed Let Them Eat Cake of Cosa Mesa, CA.

Now, if you are a fan or even familiar with Food Network's shows such as 'Ace of Cakes' or 'Food Network Challenge,' you already know about the impressive pieces of edible art that boutique bakeries like Let Them Eat Cake churn out on a day-to-day basis.

Of course, I couldn't pass up this opportunity to treat our guests --

During the Tea Party with Angelic Pretty on Sunday, Nov. 9 (see event schedule), Oneesan has custom-commissioned some delightful Angelic Pretty-themed sweets from the ovens of award-winning Chris Russom, Marjorie Chua and the rest of the Let Them Eat Cake team. (Hint: Royal Poodle is all we can say!) While the team has a careful eye for the aesthetics of the finished product, Let Them Eat Cake also prides itself on being natural, fresh and delicious.

Tea Party Menu Preview

Sweet tooths rejoice! Attendees of the Tea Party on Sunday will be excited to know that in addition to the rest of the super sweet tea set being served, Let Them Eat Cake will be whipping out several Angelic Pretty-decorated sweet treats:

  • Lemon Framboise Cupcakes

White butter cake stuffed with fresh raspberries and topped with lemon buttercreme

  • Iced Butter Shortbread Cookies

    Smooth fondant-covered flaky shortbread

Note: Of course that's not all! The full, detailed (and sugar-filled) Tea Party menu will be announced in a future issue of On the Road to Yumeiru Musical Paradise and on Cosplay Oneesan's website shortly. Stay tuned!

Size LL Tea Party Shoes For American release!

For many lolitas, Angelic Pretty's signature Tea Party Shoe has been a recognizeable staple of the typical wardrobe, especially for sweet enthusiasts. Each year, the brand releases these popular shoes in varying colors depending on the current season. They are perfect to pair with a favorite Angelic Pretty coordinate, as the color pallet of these shoes are designed to match just about all of the collections offered. The newest color addition to the Tea Party line up this year -- a bright, bold pink -- appropriately paired with the Whip Magic line.

Oneesan is excited to report that for the first time ever, Angelic Pretty will be offering Size LL Tea Party Shoes during their visit in the United States! Now girls who've longed to own a pair of these beauties but have larger feet than the past traditionally-released Tea Party Shoe sizes will be able to purchase them in this year's Magical Boutique! Quantities will be extremely limited and promise to sell out fast!
