Corporate

Cosplay Oneesan is a federally recognized, tax exempt, non-profit organization, under the category regulation 501c(6). Our focus is on forming communities that are self-sufficient and non-profit based to enhance and enrich the enjoyment of their participants, by creating and sponsoring large scale events that will bring Japanese and American Lolita together.

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to facilitate the incorporation of the Asia based fashion culture into America in a manner that is unaltered and authentic to Japan's cultural roots. Cosplay Oneesan recognizes that while the Lolita fashion has a large number of followers in the United States, there are few resources that enable fans of the style to easily incorporate it into their daily lives. Cosplay Oneesan aims to build and support the Lolita community by creating and sponsoring large scale events that will bring Japanese and American Lolita together.

Overview and History:
Cosplay Oneesan began as a cosplay group who wanted to put emphasis on fashion, detail, and performance, rather than the competition itself. The organization was first formed in January 2004 and then incorporated in November 2005. The goal was to unite like-minded costume designers and followers of Japanese street fashion, rather than encourage the aggressively competitive atmosphere that had been standard at large scale events.

It wasn't long until Cosplay Oneesan evolved to focus primarily on Lolita fashion, by inviting foreign fashion guests such as Novala Takemoto and Maki and Asuka of Angelic Pretty to create unique and innovative events in America. Since 2006, Cosplay Oneesan has been the pioneering leader in creating community centric events for those who support the Lolita fashion.
