Fantaisies dans le Monde des Rêves - The Reflection

おひさしぶり̴!

Oneesan Inc's largest event yet, Fantaisies dans le Monde des Rêves was held May 28-31, 2010. We've been working hard to wrap up all post-event duties and finally bring you our official event report!

The guests of honor at the event not only included returning household name Angelic Pretty, but also introduced other esteemed labels to the United States:  Atelier-Pierrot, recognized as the defining brand of the Gothic and Elegant movement and promoter of a wide variety of independent labels; Chantilly, founded and run by Fumiko, a well-respected designer that has worked with Angelic Pretty, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, and Moi Même Moitié; Vivicore, the first non-Japanese Lolita fashion company gaining worldwide attention with its Cute Salad and Candy Violet labels, and noted for its unique blend of classical English and Japanese influences. With this wide selection of styles and labels, Oneesan Inc has gone even further in our mission to offer something for all sides of the fashion!

As always, Oneesan was proud to offer a first-hand lolita shopping experience via our Magical Boutique, open all days of the event with booths from all of our fashion representatives. Even more exciting, this year we were happy to host representatives of the magazine, Gothic & Lolita Bible! Not only was there a photographer reporting on the event as a whole, but special Kera Snap photo ops were available in the Boutique throughout the event. Please look for the short photo spread and report in issue 37 of Gothic & Lolita Bible, on sale in August!

In addition to our Magical Boutique shopping experience, we were pleased to welcome musical duo Kokusyoku Sumire back to the U.S. for a live concert, featuring many songs off their brand new CD, at the main event on Saturday, May 29th. Many issues caused the event to start quite late, but this only made our guests even more glad to welcome our lovely patrons in for a night of fashion and music. Following the concert was a full fashion showcase of represented brands, with some of their latest designs! Our thanks to all the models who volunteered their time to work with the brands to bring their designs to life!

A new addition to our repertoire this year was our Miss G&L USA pageant, where contestants were judged according to talent, coordinate, and interview responses by our guest designers from Angelic Pretty, Chantilly, and Sweet Rococo.  Oneesan Inc is proud to congratulate our winner, Lina Rauchas, who will represent American lolitas in issue 37 of the Gothic Lolita Bible.

As always, further information on this event and any upcoming activities can be found at our website, www.cosplayoneesan.org.  Kyokusyoku CDs and merchandise, as well as selected Angelic Pretty stock are available at StarryCandyBox.com for your convenience.

***

Oneesan Inc and the San Jose Fairmont would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and extend our apologies for the many inconveniences that may have disturbed patrons during our lolita fashion event. A certain amount of miscommunication, mishaps, and tension is expected from any event, but it is always the goal of the event planners and facilities to leave the customer pleased with the experience. Many problems encountered during this event were easily avoidable, and completely not in keeping with our standards for event procedure or customer relations. We offer our humble apologies to all our patrons, and thank you all for your patience and good humor that helped make our event a modest success nonetheless. That being said, Oneesan Inc has scaled back future event planning to collaborate with guests on a smaller, more focused scale that will allow patrons a fuller lolita experience and help ensure that our control over customer services does not become lax.

It has come to our attention that many members of the lolita fashion community are unclear on the exact nature of Oneesan Inc as an organization. While questions are always welcome on the Oneesan forums, and some information has been available at our website, www.cosplayoneesan.org, there remains a great deal of confusion and misinformation on the issue. That being said, we would like to take a moment to clarify Oneesan's position and procedures for the public.

Cosplay Oneesan (Oneesan Inc) is a federally recognized, tax exempt, non-profit organization, under the category regulation 501c(6). Our focus is on forming communities that are self-sufficient and non-profit based to enhance and enrich the enjoyment of their participants, by creating and sponsoring large scale events that will bring Japanese and American Lolita together. Our corporate mission statement is to facilitate the incorporation of the Asia based fashion culture into America in a manner that is unaltered and authentic to Japan's cultural roots. From the beginning, Oneesan has been a pioneer in bringing together foreign fashion guests, such as author Novala Takemoto and top designers Maki and Asuka of Angelic Pretty, with the grander lolita fashion community in events that put an emphasis on authentic experience and community interaction.

All funds raised by Oneesan events are funneled back into event planning. This includes expenses such as airfare, accommodations, catering, translation services, publicity, site fixtures, on-site transportation, and much more. As airfare alone often eats up most of the funding, all Oneesan events are run by a staff made up of volunteers. For example, our latest event was organized and managed by a staff of barely over a dozen volunteers, working multiple duties across distances great and small. Naturally, since our volunteers cannot always schedule consistent time away from their home and work lives, the staff roster usually differs greatly from one event to the next. While it is difficult to start from the bottom up each time we organize a new event, it gives us a new chance to try out new ideas and learn from our past mistakes, as we refine and hopefully expand our venues. Similarly, often additions to our events, such as multiple guests and novelty gifts come from the generosity of our guests towards the lolita community.

All questions and concerns can be addressed directly to Oneesan via our website contact form, or the community forums. Rest assured that we do take note of all concerns in our efforts to continually develop procedures which better serve the growing EGL community.

Oneesan Inc would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many individuals who not only helped make Fantaisies an event for the entire community, but also helped it happen at all.

Thank you to all our honored guests:  Angelic Pretty designers Maki and Asuka, as well as founder and president Honda;  Atelier-Pierrot president Keiko-san and designer Yuko;  Chantilly designer Fumiko;  Kyokusyoku Sumire duo, Sachi and Yuka;  Sweet Rococo designer Lynleigh Sato, and Wonderland Atelier designer Lisa Munden.  The guests so often determine the flavor of an event, and no matter what sour twists occurred in the schedules, your understanding natures and good attitudes made this event truly sweet.  Our apologies and our thanks can never be enough.

Thank you to the staff of Harajuku Hearts, for not only attending our event as special guests in our Magical Boutique, but also assisting with translation and hospitality duties throughout the event. Their generous and tireless efforts helped our event move much smoother for all our guests. Please check out their webshop, www.harajukuhearts.com, to see the varied selection of Japanese fashion brands they are making available to the U.S.A..

Thank you to all of our lovely models during the fashion show. Your professional manner and attention were essential to giving our patrons an enjoyable evening and helping foster relations with our brand affiliates. Thank you for giving up your day to brighten the day of others.

Last but not least, the actions of Oneesan would mean nothing without the support of the lolita fashion community, both among our guests and the many patrons who attend. To all who supported and attended this event - Thank you for the gift of your presence and your patience. The growth of the EGL community in recent years has been both astonishing and wonderful, and we hope with your continued support to match that growth in our services to both the community and our Japanese brand associates. The good humor and excitement among our patrons was heartwarming to see, and reminds us what we're working towards. Every single day, there are examples across the EGL community of why this is such a great hobby and fashion to take part in, and what a difference wonderful people can make. For you, we shall continue to try our hardest to make events that are fun and fulfilling. Thank you, to all who attended. We're very grateful.

Humbly Yours,

Lynda Leung

Introducing the winner of Miss G&L USA 2010!

The competition was fierce, and the result was extremely close! Our celebrity judges from Angelic Pretty, Chantilly, and Sweet Rococo finally reached a decision, and....

Winning by a single point, Lina Rauchas emerged supreme as our first Miss G&L USA.She impressed the judges with her Alice and the Pirate coordinate, and wowed the audience with her impressive flute performance, earning her a close to perfect score for her talent. She'll be appearing in the next issue of Gothic and Lolita Bible in Japan, and will be the representative of USA lolitas in Japan.

After discovering lolita fashion through Japanese animation, Lina found a boost of confidence, allowing her to expand her horizons, even becoming a troop leader of Lithuanian girl scouts! She owns the Lolita accessory shop, Paradise Rose, where she sells affordable accessories to all lolitas.

Her goals as Miss G&L is to not only showcase American brands to Japanese and International Lolitas, but also work with the community to resurrect the American Gothic Lolita Bible so that those in the fashion and those interested can have easy access to the current workings of the Lolita community and fashion in book/magazine form.

She hopes to convey the message to other lolitas that it is indeed the best to be yourself, and the individuality is important.

Congratulations to Lina Raucher for winning the first Miss G&L USA competition!

On the Road to Fantaisies dans le Monde des Rêves! Issue #5

With only 2 weeks till the event, we hope you're as excited as we are! We have plenty of news to go through, from Miss EGL to a special message from Kera/GLB! Don't that ticket sales end soon, so get them quick on Ticketing page! Please read through this entire announcement, since we have a lot of new notes to tell all of you!

Miss Gothic and Lolita USA 2010 update!
This news will please all those currently signed up, and might sweeten the pot for those not yet registered: NEW PRIZES!!! These include at least two Angelic Pretty OP dresses, and winning carries even more weight now: the winner gets crowned by the event guests, and gets to be in a photo with -ALL- of the guests! Not just one or two, nope, ALL OF THEM. There may be other prizes as well, so if you've been sitting prettily on the fence pondering whether to register or not, now's the time!

Additionally, for those avoiding registering due to being a bit shy or lacking video equipment, the talent section *does not* require a video submission, photos are just fine. So grab those cameras and head over to the event information page  to get signed up!

New Ticketing Perks
VIP ticket holders will be receiving an exclusive Angelic Pretty catalog only available at the event, and normal ticket holders will have other event exclusive items! Also, VIP Ticket Holders have a new event to look forward to! During the VIP only Magical boutique hour on Friday, you'll be treated to trunk show, where you'll be the first people to have access to the merchandise and also nibble on some delicious goodies while having some time with all the designers.

Magical Boutique

We know how hard it is to get cash on the fly sometimes, and carrying around large quantities isn't always the safest thing. So this year, you can bring cash -or- plastic! Yes, credit cards will now be accepted as a payment option in the Magical Boutique. Think of what you can do with the money you'll save on ATM fees! Just make sure to bring a valid/current photo I.D. with the name on the I.D. matching the name on the credit card, or we will not be able to accept your credit card. If you don't have such an I.D., hurry and get one now!
We will be accepting Visa, MC, AmEx, and Discover.

Also there's going to be more magic in the Magical Boutique!  Special secret time events will be announced during the course of the weekend, and during the tea party.  Ever been to Laforet's Grand Bazaar? Know about the secret timed events? Well you're going to be in for quite a surprised.

Auctions

We would like to clarify a point regarding the auctions and winners. Please keep in mind that while two seats exist next to designers, one seat is reserved for an interpreter, leaving only one "closest" seat available. Seating priority goes in order of bid amounts out of all auctions, with highest bid overall getting first priority.

There are currently two sets auctions up on our ebay page. One is ending Today, and the other is ending on Wednesday, both at 9 PM PST. After this week, we'll have only ONE SET of VIP tickets left!

Gothic and Lolita Bible
We've just received some an email from Gothic and Lolita Bible! Kera will be at the event taking pictures similar to the street snaps you see in the GLB for Fantaisies ticket holders only! Make sure to wear your best to the event.

We are glad to know through the “Gothic & Lolita Bible" that the “Lolita” fashion that originated in Japan is loved by so many in the United States.

In the volume 37 of the Gothic & Lolita Bible, we would like to show American Lolita to our readers! I bet Japanese Lolita would be thrilled to see how Lolita Spirit is spreading all over the world!

If you have anything you would like to share with us, please send us an email to below address. Please make sure to include “Lolita from USA” in the subject. You can send your photos if you’d like! But we are not too good with English, so please keep your sentences simple and easy. LOL

On the Road to Fantaisies! Issue #4. 05.03.10

With less than a month to go until the opening of the event, we hope you are as excited as we are! We have some exciting new developments that have occurred over the last week:

That's right, The GLB that we all know and love from Japan will be officially covering the event. Even if you are not competing in Miss Gothic and Lolita USA 2010, be sure to wear your best, because who knows? Maybe you might be one of the many lucky girls to show up in a later issues of the magazine. We apologize for using the tacky sparkly text, but this announcement was of such significance that it warranted the use of such gaudy imagery.

Event Poster Sales and American Launch of the Newest Kokusyoku Sumire Album

For those who want a permanent keepsake of the event can now purchase the event poster listed on StarryCandyBox, along with general admission ticket sales. We also would like to announce that Kokusyoku Sumire has released a new album, "Alice in the Underground", and that Oneesan will be the one to launch it in the US. They will also be playing selections from that album during the concert.

Ticketing

Here are a couple more clarifications regarding ticketing:

  • Don't forget! The sooner you buy your general admission tickets, the more priority you get in seating.Tickets can be bought on Brown Paper Tickets.
  • ALSO, the higher you bid on VIP tickets, with the exception of VIP+ tickets, the more priority you get in seating at the VIP tables. That means that you'll be able to sit even close to the designers!
  • For those worried about the status of Brown Paper Ticketing, we are still waiting on the list of the winners. Sadly, only a couple people know their status with BPT due not the fact that they were still the winning bid after the auction ended. BPT had a glitch regarding our auctions, and if we do not hear from them within this week, we'll be relisting the auctions on ebay.

This week's VIP auctions will be ending at 9PM Wednesday PST. Next week's auctions will being at the same date and time. Both sets of auctions are linked below for your convenience. Please realize that after this Wednesday, there will be only FOUR (4) VIP tickets left for auction: 2 for seating with the Angelic Pretty designers, and 2 for seating with Fumiko.

This Week's VIP Auctions (ending on Wednesday of this week):

Next Week's VIP Auctions (Links will not be active till 9PM PST on Wednesday):

We hope you enjoyed this series of announcements. We'll see you at the event in a month!

On the Road to Fantaisies! Issue #3. 04.27.10

We've hit the 30-day mark until the event! Make sure to grab your tickets quick!

  Continued Ticketing Report

  • eBay and Paypal options have been quite successful. Again, we apologise for the issues with Brown Paper Tickets. The current auction closes at 9:00 PM Pacific Standard Time, so go go go! Another set of auctions will go up next week.
  • Speaking of Brown Paper Tickets, we're in contact with them and they're trying their hardest to figure out exactly what's wrong with the previous auctions. Don't fret - ticketing has been finished and you will be charged and have your spot.

Miss Gothic and Lolita USA 2010 update! A special treat for those who want to join up with this event. We've just gotten word that a major Japan-based lolita publication will be reporting on our winner! More on this in the coming days, but come and sign up anyway! And remember to take a look at the event policies before you sign up. These two sentences are, in fact, a massive link. Thanks!

Magical Boutique Opening/Closing Times The Magical Boutique will be open on the following days at the following times:   FRIDAY *2 PM - VIP ticket holders get early access! *4 PM - Open to all Oneesan ticket holders. *6 PM - Closing time! But this isn't the end.   SATURDAY *9 AM - VIP ticket holders only! *10 AM - All Oneesan ticket holders allowed entrance. *12 Noon - Open to everyone, including Fanime ticket holders. *5 PM - Closing time for Saturday!

We're on the air! Sort of. Sachi and Yuka of Kokusyoku Sumire and Fumiko of Chantilly have come together to create a special video just for us.

Thank you once again for your interest in our event, and we hope to see you there soon!

On the road to Oneesan Inc.'s Fantasies dans le Monde des Rêves! Issue #1.

First of all, we hope you enjoyed April Fool's Day, because we certainly did!

New VIP Perks

All Goth VIP ticket holders will now receive a unique personalized illustration by the artist Tsubaki Torii. Example of her work can be seen on her website.

New Brands Participating in the Event

We'd like to introduce two new brands that will participate in the fashion show during Fantaisies: Sweet Rococo and Wonderland Atelier. Also, a couple of new possible programs that will occur during the event weekend are currently being under works, and will be announced soon!

Changes VIP Ticket Auctions

Here are a couple of clarifications regarding the VIP ticket auctions as well as General Ticketing:

  • Due to some problems regarding auctions on Brown Paper Tickets, we have set up separate dates for each set of bidding. The system seems a little confusing currently, but it'll start to become more clear as time goes on. For this week, VIP bidding for both Gothic and Sweet tickets can be accessed by ordering tickets under the April 14, 2010 option.  Bidding for these tickets will end on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 12 PM Noon PST. After the auction ends, your credit card will be charged on April 14th.
  • For those wondering how to cancel their bids, instructions are covered under the event FAQ.
  • For those hoping to buy General Admission tickets, those can be bought by ordering tickets under the May 28, 2010 option.
  • We apologize for the confusing manner of buying tickets. However, this is the only option we have that will allow us to have professional ticketing, which will end up working in your favor in the long run. Please bear with us.

We also would like to inquire whether there is anybody interested in going to the event who is unable to buy tickets using credit card through Brown Paper Tickets. If enough people are encountering the problem, there is a possibility that we will implement a method of buying General Admission tickets using paypal. We hope you guys enjoyed your easter weekend, and will look forward to seeing you at the event in May!
